THE PINK RIBBON PROGRAM For many breast cancer patients, post-surgery care consists of an exercise pamphlet or no exercise at all. However, upper-limb dysfunction is a commonly reported side effect of treatment for breast cancer and may include pain, decreased shoulder strength, loss of range of motion, and lymphedema. The Pink Ribbon Program is a six-week workout that was designed to enhance quality of life by increasing range of motion, stretching and strengthening the shoulders, chest, back and abdominal core.
The benefits of Cancer Exercise, Post-surgery rehabilitation and The Pink Ribbon Program are enhanced physical and mental well-being; reduced feelings of depression; increased energy levels; increased muscle mass, strength and endurance; improved bone density, increased balance; increased functional daily activities; increased overall quality of life; weight control; protection against common side-effects of chemotherapy & radiation; lymphedema management; increased Range of Motion (ROM) & flexibility; reduction in cancer-related pain, nausea and vomiting.
